Hello finance geeks 👋
When we introduced fuzz a little less than a year ago, it was a simple idea: a chat box on a web page, where you could ask a finance question and get a verified answer. That was it.
A year later, fuzz looks quite different.
Every one of these decisions was built on the same belief we started with: finance conversations deserve a stronger foundation than a generic AI wrapper.
So what changed in the last few months?
fuzz is now on your phone
Almost every feedback email we received had some version of “when is the app coming?”
It’s here. fuzz is now live on both the App Store and the Play Store.
We didn’t want the app to be the website squeezed into a smaller screen. We built it around how you actually consume finance in a day:
A Connect the Dots deep-dive between meetings, to keep you updated on the latest news
A Screener when you finally have an idea to explore and discover stocks
A quick audio byte (an opening bell summary, an IPO note) on your commute
And of course, a conversation with fuzz whenever a question pops up
Each of these gets a dedicated page in the app, so you can jump straight to what you need instead of typing your way there.
A new look (and yes, dark mode)
As fuzz expanded beyond chat, we realised that a design built for a single chat box needed to improve.
So we went back and overhauled the design across fuzz:
Cleaner layouts, so all features feel a part of the same product
Better typography, especially for the numbers and tables that finance runs on
Consistent components across web, iOS and Android, so switching devices feels seamless
And finally, dark mode on the web. Toggle it from your profile and fuzz will remember your choice (dark mode on app coming as soon as next week)
Faster, especially where it matters
A lot of the work over the last two months isn’t something you’d see. It’s something you’d feel.
Faster natural-language screeners
We’ve spent a good amount of time on speed. When you describe the stocks you want in plain English, fuzz now builds the screen in under 30 seconds, down from 57 seconds when we first introduced it in June. That makes it the fastest natural language screener you can use today.
Keyboard shortcuts on web
As fuzz is now present on both app and web, we realize that a lot of our power users may default to web. We’re incrementally rolling out keyboard shortcuts (such as Ctrl/Cmd + K opens up the search bar) to help you get to your favourite chats and companies faster.
Support for external sources
For the longest time, fuzz only referenced documents ingested into our own database. However, we realise that for a lot of users, it is important that they can reference their own material. You can now drop in any URL of your choice, and if it is finance-based, fuzz will refer it. We’re also rolling out support for uploading external docs by the end of this month.
A year of fuzz
None of this would matter without you. Over the past year, over 40,000 fuzzers have asked over 300,000 questions, created over 20,000 natural language screeners and listened to over 25 hours of audio content. Every one of those has shaped what fuzz looks like today.
Thank you for sticking around.
Year two is going to look very different from year one. More on that next month.
